About the position

LANXESS is seeking a highly skilled professional to ensure the effective management and execution of Process Control Technology (PCT) disciplines throughout all project stages. This role involves ensuring compliance with LANXESS guidelines RL-0071 and 0036, while also developing, specifying, and supervising all necessary PCT activities to meet project goals within the constraints of time, budget, and quality, all while maintaining safety standards. The successful candidate will work closely with key stakeholders, including project managers and various disciplines, to refine project scope, budget, and timelines according to PCT requirements. Timely and accurate reporting to the Project Manager or Steering Committee is essential, particularly for PCT projects. In addition to project management responsibilities, the role includes developing and implementing execution, procurement, and construction strategies, ensuring they are updated to reflect actual project progress. The candidate will manage changes effectively, focusing on project goals while considering interdisciplinary collaboration, business demands, and operational necessities. Supervision and control of all PCT contractors, both engineering and construction, will be a critical aspect of this position, ensuring efficient management and adherence to project specifications. The role also supports LANXESS business units and other PTSE disciplines in various capacities, including executing PCT GAP analyses, creating modernization strategies, and providing support during HAZOP discussions and maintenance projects. The candidate will be responsible for creating local standards, providing first-level support for business unit PCT, and training PCT engineers on new or updated standards. As a lead function and expert within the LANXESS PCT competence center, the candidate will foster knowledge management and experience exchange on a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Owners Engineering, evaluation and granting competencies for the Process Control Technology (PCT) disciplines during all project stages.
  • Develop, specify and supervise all necessary PCT activities to ensure project goals are delivered on time, within budget, and with quality in a safe manner.
  • Refine scope, budget, and timeline according to PCT requirements in close agreement with main stakeholders and ensure timely reporting to the Project Manager or Steering Committee.
  • Develop, determine, and implement execution, procurement, and construction strategies, keeping them updated to actual progress.
  • Manage all changes focusing on project goals by implementing suitable countermeasures and ensuring appropriate stakeholder management.
  • Supervise and control all PCT contractors (engineering and construction) to ensure efficient management of all contractors.
  • Support LXS business units and other PTSE disciplines in executing PCT GAP analysis and creating modernization strategies.
  • Provide PCT support in HAZOP discussions, maintenance projects, and compliance checks.
  • Create local standards and provide first-level support for BU PCT.
  • Train PCT engineers in new or updated standards and act as an expert for local PCT standards.

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel up to 50-70% depending on project needs.
  • Engineering degree in Process Control Technology disciplines.
  • More than 10 years of experience in a Process Control Technology role.
  • Knowledge of local and legal regulations in the Americas as well as LANXESS requirements.
  • Deep knowledge of legal and local rules and regulations with the capability to implement them into LANXESS requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of American standards concerning the design of hardware and software applications and requirements.
  • PCT technical understanding including basic allocation and assessment competence for all PCT devices and systems common in chemistry.
  • Basic knowledge of process engineering for assessing process and control-related relationships requirements.
