About the position

The Instrumentation Engineer I will support the process electrical & instrumentation team in ensuring that instrumentation for design/build projects is properly designed, specified, and procured. The role involves providing status updates related to schedule and budget throughout the project, contributing to various engineering tasks, and collaborating with other engineers and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Support Process Flow Diagrams and P&ID development.
  • Prepare instrument specifications in coordination with process engineers.
  • Responsible for sizing process instrumentation.
  • Develop Instrument and IO lists.
  • Review bids from instrumentation suppliers.
  • Produce instrument location plans and details.
  • Review 3D piping models for proper installation and accessibility.
  • Review of fabrication, construction, and installation requirements.
  • Review of vendor drawings and packaged systems.
  • Participate in internal and external review sessions.
  • Perform contractor RFI and submittal reviews.
  • Participate in cost estimating tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Completion of the fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam is a plus.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of instrumentation engineering experience.
  • Experience with certification and code requirements (Awareness of Electrical Codes & Standards; IEC, NEC, UL for components certification, ISA, ASME, ANSI).
  • Knowledge of hazardous area design.
  • Must be knowledgeable in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel.
