About the position

The position is focused on developing flight instrumentation for Blue Origin's Lunar Transportation business unit, which is responsible for the Blue Moon lander product lines. The role involves collaborating with design engineers, managing suppliers, and ensuring the successful development and testing of sensors for aerospace applications, contributing to the mission of sustainable lunar infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop flight instrumentation and collaborate with design engineers to understand and document their instrumentation requirements and interfaces
  • Select, design, and test sensors for the fluids and propulsion integrated product team
  • Engage with instrumentation suppliers to develop the flight sensors and help create strategic relationships with them
  • Write specifications, verification plans and system safety artifacts for flight sensors
  • Create mechanical and electrical drawings for sensor assemblies
  • Plan and execute sensor characterization, verification, and qualification test campaigns
  • Interact with internal and external partners to track instrumentation engineering development and ensure the release of installation drawings per schedule

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or other appropriate engineering or physics field
  • 5+ years of experience in design, test, and operation of transducers for the aerospace industry
  • Experience managing suppliers and projects from initial concept through production
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong task ownership, demonstrating pride in all work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10%
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
