About the position

ASRC Federal Space & Defense is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to support the Air Force Research Lab at Edwards AFB, California. The role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining instrumentation data systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and customer requirements, and providing leadership and training to junior staff.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a comprehensive training plan for Instrumentation Data Systems for all areas.
• Design, implement, recommend, maintain, and improve components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
• Direct and coordinate specific tasks on construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
• Provide work leadership and training to lower level professional and technical staff.

Requirements

• Experience training personnel in Instrumentation controls and theory.
• Control Systems Theory, Application and Operator Interfacing (Real-Time Discrete Data and Closed-Loop Dynamic Control Systems; Frequency Domain Analysis and Modeling, Performance and Stability Analysis; Electro/Pneumatic Positioning and Thrust Vector Controls.
• Embedded Real-Time Industrial Controller and HMI Interface development (multi-site, individual (Not Networked around sites) Server-based Allen-Bradley Facility Control Program development.
• Basic Computer Programming skills (Visual Basic VB6, VB.NET, LabVIEW, MATLAB/Simulink, Ladder Logic).
• Understanding of Basic Power Systems. Working knowledge of National Electrical Codes, Back-up Power Systems, Power Grounding and Shielding.
• High-Power Cryogenic Pump/Vaporization systems.
• Some Lightning Protection systems.
• Requires Bachelor's degree and ten to twelve years of related experience.
• Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
