The Facilities Instrumentation & Electrical Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the development and consistent implementation of engineering and construction standards for various projects within the Base process facility. This position involves collaborating with multiple departments and disciplines to ensure the successful execution of projects from initial concept through to commissioning and start-up. The engineer will provide essential support to existing assets and act as an operations engineering representative on new development projects, which may range from small to mid-size projects, including corrective maintenance recommendations and the development of preventative maintenance plans. In this role, the engineer will coordinate with various teams, including Project Engineers, Production Operations, Maintenance, Environmental, Regulatory, HSE, and others, to develop and execute facility infrastructure plans in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities will include providing troubleshooting and optimization support for instrumentation and electrical systems, assisting project teams during the execution, commissioning, and start-up phases of facility upgrades and modifications, and collaborating on the development of scope of work definitions, detailed designs, and cost estimates for Base Facility Projects. The engineer will also be responsible for creating technical specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, and cable schedules, while ensuring compliance with electrical area classifications, arc flash assessments, grounding, and power distribution management. Participation in risk assessments and process hazard analyses will be essential, as well as monitoring project progress and reconciling actual costs with forecasts. The engineer will lead the development of programs and standards to maintain instrumentation and electrical equipment, ensuring adherence to corporate and industry standards and providing feedback on compliance to management. Additionally, the engineer will support programming efforts related to PLC, RTU, HMI, SCADA, and wireless designs, all while embodying the company's SPIRIT values and being recognized as a technical specialist within the business unit.
