About the position

We are Lockheed Martin, and your mission is ours. As an Instrumentation Operations Engineer, you will play a crucial role in integrating requirements and programming new instrumentation data acquisition equipment, including FTI fiber systems and both analog and digital signal conditioning hardware during integration and flight tests. This position requires you to work independently or lead a team to execute project schedules and technical requirements, ensuring that we meet the goals of the test program. You will oversee the installation, checkout, and calibration of data systems, ensuring that the collected data can be properly displayed, processed, and analyzed. Additionally, you will maintain configuration control and mission capability of the instrumentation system, along with all associated ground support equipment. Your responsibilities will also include the specification, selection, design, integration, operation, and maintenance of airborne data acquisition systems and their related components. This encompasses telemetry, flight test-specific hardware, or prototypes for flight test evaluation. You will support preflight, post-flight, and control room activities for all scheduled missions, interfacing with test operations, maintenance, and management to ensure that all instrumentation requirements are coordinated and accounted for. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are essential, as well as excellent communication skills, as you will need to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to meet project goals. This position requires a willingness to work extended hours, off-shift, and weekends as necessary, along with occasional travel as required by the Test Program. A level 3 employee typically has 5 - 9 years of professional experience, and it is important to note that you must be a US Citizen, as this position is located at a facility that requires special access.
