About the position

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer to support the Pegasus-III Experiment, an innovative solenoid-free tokamak. This role involves working with heating and current drive systems, contributing to plasma physics research, and developing models for larger scale devices. The position is full-time and requires in-person work at the campus location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for heating and current drive systems in the Pegasus-III Experiment.
  • Assist in the installation of coaxial helicity injection and microwave systems.
  • Conduct research on non-solenoidal plasma startup techniques.
  • Study impurities during plasma ramp-up.
  • Develop models to scale systems to larger devices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 1+ year experience working with high voltage systems required.
  • 1+ year experience working with RF/microwave sources and components preferred.
  • 1+ year experience with multi-physics modeling tools such as COMSOL preferred.
