About the position

The Instrumentation Systems Field Engineer at Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation (THTBC) is responsible for supporting the Engineering Work Center with the installation and modification of communication and data systems at the Fallon Tactical Training Range. This role involves troubleshooting, project support, and ensuring the operational status of various systems, while adhering to configuration management standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide range communications support including field engineering, installation, and integration of equipment and facilities for TTR communication and video requirements.
  • Assist with project support, including engineering assistance in design, fabrication, cost analysis, procurement, installation, configuration changes, and documentation.
  • Support requirements for system modifications, range reconfigurations, and new facility buildups as per Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
  • Conduct equipment relocation studies and installations to support range growth or other requirements.
  • Perform field-engineering actions to return inoperative systems to operational status.
  • Support the Configuration Management (CM) program by evaluating and monitoring modifications to TTR equipment or facilities.
  • Identify sources of spare parts for systems as needed.
  • Conduct complex system analysis and troubleshooting to restore mission support systems to operational availability.
  • Document maintenance actions in Integrated Enterprise Management Systems (IEMS).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal education equivalent to Navy 'C' School or vocational training in electronic equipment maintenance.
  • Five years of technical experience with Tactical Training Range systems or equivalent military systems.
  • Five years of instrumentation experience in fiber optics, electromagnetic waves, antennas, optical systems, communications systems, video signal processing, microwave transmission, and calibration.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain interim and fully adjudicated Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • Tower Climb Certified.
  • Possess Security+ or similar IAT II certificate.
  • Ability to interact well in a team setting or independently and adapt to job changes on short notice.
  • Capability to work under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards, and standard safety practices.
