About the position

The Instrumentation Technician II at Walkin Technologies LLC is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electronic instrumentation used in the automation of large industrial processes. This role involves assisting with system integration projects, programming PLCs and HMIs, and ensuring the functionality of installed equipment. The technician will also perform preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, and installation of instrumentation, while collaborating with engineers on PLC systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting and repair services on electronic instrumentation used in automation.
  • Assist with system integration projects by identifying parts and components for PLC, network, computer, and software components.
  • Program PLCs and HMIs, testing functionality of program logic and installed equipment.
  • Troubleshoot software and systems issues during start-up.
  • Develop and assemble required documentation and user manuals during the development process.
  • Perform calibration, installation, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation.
  • Repair instrumentation, typically involving calibration using various meters and tools.
  • Set up new instrumentation and calibrate to specifications using schematics and drawings.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of test apparatus and peripheral equipment.
  • Travel to customer sites to provide services as required.

Requirements

  • 4 years of experience as an instrumentation technician.
  • 4 years of experience in operation of AC and DC drives.
  • 4 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair services on electronic instrumentation.
  • Technical knowledge of speed feedback devices theory and operation.
  • Understanding of temperature control and temperature components.
  • Good understanding of PID and control loops.
  • Understanding of Ethernet communications and connections.
  • Proficient in PLC and HMI systems, including communications drivers and connections.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with computerized equipment and software for testing functions and report production.
  • Demonstrated ability to use diagnostic equipment.
