About the position

The Insulation Worker at Brookhaven National Laboratory is responsible for the installation and removal of insulation and protective coverings around piping, ductwork, fixtures, and devices. This role requires compliance with environmental control standards, particularly in the handling of asbestos insulation, and mandates that the worker be trained and licensed as a certified asbestos abatement worker in New York State.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation and removal of insulation and protective coverings about piping, ductwork, fixtures, and devices.
  • Conduct limited removal, cleanup, and disposal of asbestos insulation in accordance with applicable environmental control standards.
  • Complete training to become a New York State licensed certified asbestos abatement worker, supervisor, and inspector.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or higher.
  • Ability to qualify and maintain qualifications in accordance with New York State asbestos industrial code Rule 56.
  • Possess New York State asbestos licenses for supervisor/worker handler and inspector certificates.
  • Pass a respirator fit test and maintain all required training related to CC301 insulation and abatement JTA.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and work in confined spaces.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Valid NYS driver's license.
