About the position

The Insurance Administrative Specialist role at TEKsystems is designed for individuals with experience in medical administration or customer service. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to work in the insurance and healthcare industry, with a focus on obtaining authorizations and coordinating communications between various stakeholders. The role is contract-to-hire, providing a pathway to permanent employment after six months, with the potential for hybrid work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain authorization from payer's case manager for services ordered/requested for prospects/referrals in a timely manner.
  • Document specific details related to the authorization including effective and end dates using the appropriate legacy system and associated software application via patient notes, authorizations, tasks, workflow, phone calls and/or email.
  • Obtain additional pre-certification as needed and consult with the agency for all private insurance referrals, documenting and communicating via the software application in a timely manner.
  • Serve as a liaison between the branch location and the payer on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate and communicate with the branch location regarding any changes or updates from the payer in a timely manner.
  • Access authorizations via email, telephone, fax, and/or online application in the most efficient and timely manner.
  • Resolve all customer requests, inquiries, and concerns in an expedient and respectful manner.
  • Problem solve independently before referring issues to the Supervisor/Manager for resolution.
  • Perform eligibility and similar, comparable, or related duties as may be required or assigned.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in Medical Administration or Customer Service
  • Diploma or GED required
  • EMR experience preferred
