As an Insurance Agency Bookkeeper, you will play a crucial role in supporting our retail broker, wholesale broker, or MGA clients by managing essential bookkeeping tasks. This position is designed for those who have significant experience in the insurance field and are looking to continue their professional journey in a flexible, remote environment. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the General Ledger, which includes managing Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Commission Payable. You will prepare monthly management reports and commission payable reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Additionally, you will handle the reconciliation of carrier commission statements and resolve any accounting discrepancies that may arise with insurance carriers or producers. Your expertise will also be utilized in preparing monthly and annual financial statements, as well as maintaining the budget using both Excel and an Agency Management system. Experience with agency management systems such as EPIC, AMS360, or Sagitta is highly desired, as it will enhance your ability to perform these tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the General Ledger including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Commission Payable.
  • Prepare monthly management and commission payable reports.
  • Reconcile carrier commission statements and resolve accounting discrepancies with insurance carriers and/or producers.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain the budget using both Excel and an Agency Management system.

Requirements

  • 25 years of full-time work experience in the insurance industry.
  • 10 years of premium accounting experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using agency management systems such as EPIC, AMS360, or Sagitta.
