About the position

The Insurance Associate Data Analyst position at Ally Financial serves as a vital entry point for aspiring data analysts eager to delve into the intricacies of our systems, products, and the data that drives them. This role is designed to foster a deep understanding of the efficiency of our configuration processes, with a strong emphasis on developing process improvement plans and automated solutions. As part of this position, you will engage in various IT projects, acting as a bridge between IT, Project Managers, and diverse business owners within the Insurance sector. You will be tasked with special projects that involve collaboration with the data warehouse and analytics team, ensuring that the Insurance Operations business unit meets its product delivery goals through effective configuration services. This includes requirement gathering, system configuration, user acceptance testing, and providing support during and after implementation. In this hybrid role, you will be expected to gather product requirements from the DP-S Product Development team and assist in the development of product-related configurations. Your responsibilities will also include executing configuration programming in both test and production environments, conducting unit testing, and providing defect resolution support during system testing and user acceptance testing. You will play a crucial role in developing the User Acceptance Test Plan for product releases and performing production support analysis on defects submitted to the configuration team. Additionally, you will identify and define new process improvement opportunities, develop and implement data collection systems and strategies to optimize efficiency and data quality, and maintain consolidation processes for acquired data from various sources.

Responsibilities

  • Gather product requirements from the DP-S Product Development team.
  • Assist in product-related configuration development.
  • Execute configuration programming in test and production environments.
  • Assist with unit testing of the system configuration.
  • Provide defect resolution and support during system testing and user acceptance testing.
  • Assist with the development of the User Acceptance Test Plan on Product Releases.
  • Perform production support analysis on defects submitted to the configuration team.
  • Perform SME role in system-related projects to help define correct system implementations.
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems and strategies that optimize efficiency and data quality.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain consolidation processes.

Requirements

  • 1+ Years of Data and Business Analysis preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Information Science or similar background required.
  • Ability to work across cultures and functions.
  • Strong Microsoft Access - Excel skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Programming Proficiency in Visual Basic, Oracle SQL, JAVA, and Power BI.
