About the position

The Insurance Authorization Assistant plays a crucial role in managing patient registrations and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position involves updating electronic medical records, scheduling patients, and providing support to staff regarding insurance authorizations and patient processing. The assistant works under the direction of the Director and/or Office Manager, contributing to the efficient operation of specialty services within the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Performs insurance authorizations.
  • Registers patients in hospital systems.
  • Processes and/or routes all incoming calls and responds to departmental inquiries.
  • Schedules patients for initial evaluations.
  • Reconciles work lists and reports.
  • Creates and maintains medical records and charts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • At least one year of experience working in the medical field or equivalent combination of continuing education and experience is preferred.
  • Ability to effectively and positively interact with a multi-disciplinary team of staff, patients, and others.
