About the position

The Risk & Insurance team at DoorDash is a dynamic and rapidly growing function responsible for managing corporate insurance across the company. This team plays a crucial role in helping DoorDash navigate risk and safety while maintaining a keen focus on the company's financial health. The team is structured into three distinct subgroups: Actuarial, Claims Operations, and Risk Management & Mitigation. We are seeking innovative thinkers who are eager to contribute to the development of this newly-formed team and collaborate with our ambitious cross-functional partners at DoorDash. In this role, you will serve as an experienced claims specialist within DoorDash's Corporate Risk & Insurance function, working closely with the Finance & Strategy team. Your primary focus will be on auto insurance claims, where you will engage with our insurance carrier partners and third-party claims administrators. You will be instrumental in developing a comprehensive strategy for claims handling at DoorDash, leveraging your prior insurance experience and understanding of injury and property damage claims. Reporting to an Insurance Claims Supervisor, you will initially work in-person at our Tempe, AZ office for the first 4-6 weeks of onboarding, transitioning to a hybrid schedule thereafter, with in-office work expected every Wednesday and potentially 2-3 additional days per week in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Review loss reports and supporting materials for workers' compensation and occupational accidents.
  • Address escalating incidents by identifying potential issues, assessing risk severity, and taking appropriate mitigation steps.
  • Contribute to process improvements and provide constructive input regularly.
  • Partner with leadership to manage ongoing projects, setting project goals, establishing timelines, and allocating resources.
  • Enter accurate data in CRMs, G-Suite, and related tools.
  • Manage multiple operating systems simultaneously.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and ensure sensitive information is protected.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience handling bodily injury claims.
  • 2+ years of experience managing personal lines, commercial lines, or general liability claims.
  • Experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company.
  • Experience handling high priority escalations and working promptly to provide resolutions.
  • Enthusiasm for Insurance.
