About the position

The Insurance Defense Associate will represent insurance companies in various legal matters, focusing on litigation, arbitration, and settlement negotiations. This role is critical in protecting clients' interests and resolving legal disputes efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel and representation to insurance companies in insurance defense cases, mainly professional liability and construction defects.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to develop effective defense strategies.
  • Prepare and draft pleadings, motions, legal briefs, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including claims adjusters and underwriters, to evaluate and manage claims.
  • Engage in settlement negotiations and alternative dispute resolution processes.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law required.
  • 3+ years of experience practicing insurance defense law, with a focus on litigation.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance laws, regulations, and industry practices.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage a high caseload and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Trial experience preferred but not required.
