About the position
The Placement Strategist role focuses on specializing in commercial insurance lines within the construction sector, primarily serving trade contractors, general contractors, heavy civil contractors, and project owners in the Northeast, particularly Metro NY. The position requires effective collaboration with the Northeast Construction & Surety Practice team to place new business and manage renewals, while also negotiating terms with underwriters and maintaining strong relationships with industry representatives.
Responsibilities
- Specialize in commercial insurance lines within the construction sector.
- Collaborate with the Northeast Construction & Surety Practice team to place new business and manage renewals.
- Negotiate pricing, policy conditions, and terms with underwriters.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with underwriters and carrier representatives.
- Stay informed about the current marketplace and communicate new capabilities to Producers.
- Prepare complete submissions, including supplemental applications and historical data.
- Analyze and review proposals with Producers, making recommendations for insurance coverage.
- Bind coverage within company guidelines and maintain accurate policy files.
- Attend carrier meetings and accompany producers on business calls as needed.
- Contribute to team efforts by achieving related results.
Requirements
- Comprehensive understanding of Property Casualty lines of coverage and services.
- Previous experience working on construction accounts, especially in the Metro NY region, preferred.
- Technical proficiency in insurance policy terms and conditions.
- 3-5 years of marketing or related experience in an agency, brokerage, or insurance carrier setting.
- Active NY or NJ Broker's license required.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience with Agency Management Systems, rating procedures, and coverages.
