About the position

The Insurance Customer Service Representative role at USAA is designed for individuals who are passionate about serving the military community and their families. This position involves providing exceptional customer service, sales, and retention activities for USAA's Property & Casualty personal line products. Representatives will assist members with new and existing policies, ensuring they receive adequate coverage and advice to secure their financial well-being. The role includes a comprehensive training program and opportunities for professional growth within a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the Property & Casualty member experience by handling inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, or other contacts from members.
  • Apply developing knowledge of personal lines' insurance to assist members with quotes, binding new business, rating, policy, billing, payment, underwriting, contract and coverage provisions, and premium changes.
  • Identify, evaluate and understand member needs to provide complete and accurate advice and solutions for insurance products and services.
  • Provide detailed issue diagnosis while minimizing member transfers, escalations, and call backs.
  • Efficiently operate in a contact center environment and navigate multiple systems and programs while maintaining engaging member interactions.
  • Maintain required Property & Casualty license and state registrations.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly and professionally by phone and email.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task while navigating through multiple business applications.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and understanding of insurance regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Acquire Property & Casualty licenses and state registrations within 90 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1 year of customer contact experience in a needs-based sales environment.
  • 6 months experience frequently communicating with customers by phone, e-mail, and/or face to face.
  • US military experience through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner.
