About the position

The Insurance Research Analyst at Conning & Company is responsible for analyzing and understanding various products and sectors within the insurance market. This role involves engaging with clients, the media, and the broader industry, while also supporting asset management clients and business development initiatives. The analyst will produce written reports, lead consulting projects, and collaborate with other research team members to evaluate industry trends and their impacts on insurance markets. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze industry trends and evaluate their impact on insurance markets.
  • Serve as a primary author on written reports and other deliverables.
  • Lead and assist with consulting projects.
  • Engage with clients and represent Conning in the insurance research sector.
  • Develop and maintain industry contacts to support business development initiatives.
  • Support other areas within Conning, including Asset Management and Business Development.
  • Supervise associate, senior associate, or vice-president analysts within Insurance Research.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Actuarial Science, Economics, Accounting, or Finance.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in related fields such as insurance operations, actuarial functions, or equity research.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills to synthesize and articulate critical conclusions.
  • Moderate presentation skills for delivering presentations to various audiences.
  • Ability to write major studies and articles with limited supervision.
  • Expert knowledge of insurance products, technology, and economic drivers.
  • Strong understanding of insurance company statutory and GAAP financial statements.
