About the position

The Insurance Verification and Authorization Specialist at HumanHire is a critical role responsible for verifying and processing insurance information for clients in a healthcare setting. This position ensures accurate confirmation of patient insurance coverage and eligibility, facilitating smooth operations within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance, eligibility, and benefits to determine co-pays, deductibles, and co-insurance amounts.
  • Secure authorizations by working directly with surgical practices, clinics, hospitals, and insurance payers through electronic systems, portals, and phone communication.
  • Prioritize tasks in real-time to minimize financial risk and ensure timely completion of authorizations.
  • Document all activities, identify and escalate any issues to management, and assist with special projects as needed.
  • Manage schedules, inbound/outbound calls, and communication to support a cohesive workflow.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of patient registration, insurance verification, and authorization processes.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple tasks with precision.
  • High school diploma or GED required; healthcare experience preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in insurance verification and authorization is required.
  • 1 year of experience with Epic Systems Healthcare Software is preferred.
