About the position

The Intake Clerk is responsible for processing documents from the E-file portal and in-person submissions, ensuring the integrity and efficiency of the County Civil Court. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to the public, attorneys, and visitors to the court, both in person and over the phone, while accurately answering inquiries regarding general court information.

Responsibilities

  • Screens and file-stamps incoming documents, case filings, and performs data entry into case management system while providing quality assurance of all electronic entries.
  • Responsible for generating receipts for the fees collected, and reconciles transactions for funds deposited into the registry of the court.
  • Process appeal claims from all 16 Justice of the Peace Courts.
  • Retrieves and generates receipts for E-file Texas Courts.
  • Assist in-person customers, and answers phone calls by providing procedural information, confirming fees and completing court database searches.
  • Reviews and processes incoming mail.
  • Responsible for filing, and indexing documents on any new or ongoing action for civil, and appeals, using manual and automated processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
  • Two (2) years of clerical or office experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple phone lines and multi-task.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work as a team player and work well with others.
  • Must possess strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Basic knowledge of E-filing.
  • Work experience in a legal setting.
  • Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
