About the position

The Intake & Employment Specialist at New Directions Addiction Recovery Services plays a crucial role in supporting individuals in early recovery from substance use disorders. This position involves managing intake processes, connecting clients with community resources, and facilitating employment opportunities, all while ensuring a welcoming environment for new residents. The role requires personal experience with recovery or prior employment in the recovery field, emphasizing the importance of empathy and understanding in this supportive role.

Responsibilities

  • Field calls and emails from potential residents and rehab centers for potential placement.
  • Assist new residents with the admission paperwork and entering resident information in the database.
  • Support Case Management staff with ensuring intake paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Connect clients to community resources, linkages to education, career development opportunities, employment and recovery capital resources.
  • Run specialty groups such as resume creation, life skills, team building exercises, etc.
  • Create and keep relationships with local businesses and employment agencies to further employment opportunities for NDARS residents.
  • Communicate with clients, staff and partners at a high level of professionalism.
  • Ensure a welcoming and healthy environment for new resident arrivals.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or over
  • Must have proof of a valid IL driver's license and vehicle insurance with a good driving record
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services or related field preferred
  • Must be well versed with the 12-step recovery method and/or 12-step facilitation therapy
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, residents and the community at large.
  • Maintain a reliable level of attendance.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • Personal experience in a recovery program or previous work in the recovery field.
