About the position

Jettison is representing a law firm that is seeking an Intake Paralegal specializing in Asbestos and Toxic Tort cases. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a minimum of two years of experience in a paralegal role. This full-time position offers a salary range of $60,000 to $70,000 per year and requires the candidate to work in person in Dallas, TX. The Intake Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys by assisting in the drafting of various legal documents, conducting legal research, and managing case files. The position demands a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information. The Intake Paralegal will be responsible for drafting legal documents such as complaints, proof of service, pleadings, and correspondence to clients and the court. Additionally, the role involves conducting computerized legal research, corporate entity searches, and technical literature research. The paralegal will analyze materials and prepare synopses, create and maintain organized case files, and interact with clients to respond to inquiries and provide updates on case progress. Filing court documents and maintaining a comprehensive database of defendants, service tracking, settlements, job sites, and co-workers will also be part of the responsibilities. The candidate will assist attorneys in locating case files and documents, ensuring that all tasks are completed in accordance with firm policies and legal standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the drafting of legal documents including complaints, proof of service, pleadings, and correspondence to clients and the court.
  • Conducting computerized legal research, corporate entity searches, and technical literature research.
  • Analyzing materials and preparing a synopsis.
  • Creating, maintaining, organizing, and tracking case files.
  • Interacting with clients, responding to client inquiries, and keeping clients updated on the progress of cases.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of client information in accordance with firm policies.
  • Filing court documents.
  • Maintaining a database of defendants, service tracking, settlements, job sites, and co-workers to assist attorneys with new clients.
  • Assisting in the drafting and effecting of client, co-worker, and expert affidavits.
  • Assisting attorneys with locating case files and documents.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a paralegal.
  • Experience working with mesothelioma docket.
  • Familiarity with various State and Federal Courts rules and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Adobe, Microsoft Office Suite, and advanced typing skills are required.
  • Paralegal Certificate is required.
