About the position

The Integrated Marketing Communications & PR Manager at International Dairy Queen (IDQ) is responsible for overseeing Public Relations and Influencer Marketing efforts. This role involves developing strategic visions to enhance brand awareness and equity, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and executing campaigns that resonate with key audiences. The Manager will also manage a PR calendar and budget, lead publicity events, and serve as a spokesperson for the brand.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Public Relations and Influencer Marketing efforts for IDQ.
  • Develop a public relations strategic vision, goals, and plans in collaboration with the Director and Vice President of Marketing Communications.
  • Build and manage a year-round Public Relations calendar and campaign budget to promote the Dairy Queen brand.
  • Establish launch and publicity strategies for timely product initiatives and drive sales during key seasonal periods.
  • Work closely with the Integrated Marketing Communications team to support mutual projects and goals.
  • Develop media relations strategy and build relationships with key media members.
  • Create content with influencers to generate editorial coverage and endorsements for DQ products.
  • Execute multi-media public relations events and campaigns with measurable value.
  • Manage media inquiries and interview requests, except for crisis management matters.
  • Develop compelling messaging for publicity materials and franchisee presentations.
  • Lead external PR firms to develop innovative public relations programs.
  • Monitor brand mentions in media and analyze PR results quarterly.

Requirements

  • B.A in Advertising, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5-8+ years of progressively responsible Public Relations experience.
  • Proven track record of designing and executing successful public relations campaigns at the national level.
  • Strong relationships with local and national media outlets.
  • Experience acting as a company spokesperson and conducting media interviews.
  • Solid experience with social media platforms.
  • Strong project management skills in integrated MarCom projects.
  • Experience in QSR, franchise business, or retail brand is a plus.
  • Creative thinker with innovative ideas.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • PRSA certification is a plus.
  • Public Relations agency experience is a plus.
