About the position

As an Integrated Technology Engineer at AM/NS Calvert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the implementation and availability of advanced quality product management tools, such as the Global Product Quality System (GPQS) and the Coil Grading Surface Inspection System (CGSIS). This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. You will be part of a dynamic team that is committed to pushing the boundaries of technology in steelmaking, contributing to the development of innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers and the industry at large. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus on Industrial, Metallurgy, Material, or Information Systems, or a combination of relevant education and experience. A minimum of three years of experience with product quality management tools and measurement devices is essential. You should have a solid understanding of data analysis using applications like Minitab and reporting tools such as PowerBI, as well as a strong grasp of automation relational databases. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and familiarity with databases like SQL are also required. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding process parameters and signals that affect product quality from the slab casting process to galvanizing lines. You will work closely with mill quality and technology teams to implement and improve product quality parameters for customer acceptance. Additionally, you will collaborate with Global R&D and engage in technical exchanges with other ArcelorMittal facilities to drive continuous improvement in product quality management tools. Your ability to create effective learning materials and implement tools for end users will be key to your success in this position. The work environment is a blend of office and industrial settings, located in the Gulf Coast region of Calvert, Alabama. Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation and availability of advanced quality product management tools such as GPQS and CGSIS in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Understand process parameters and signals affecting product quality from slab casting to galvanizing lines.
  • Work closely with mill quality and technology teams to implement and improve product quality parameters for customer acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Global R&D and engage in technical exchanges with other ArcelorMittal facilities.
  • Create formulas to improve quality management tool results.
  • Develop tool implementation and learning materials for rollout to end users.
  • Work in a fast-paced and changing environment while ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Fulfill responsibilities required to achieve the Quality Commitment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Industrial, Metallurgy, Material or Information Systems focus preferred, or a combination of post-secondary education and directly related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with product quality management tools and measurement devices.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis utilizing applications such as Minitab and reporting applications like PowerBI.
  • Solid understanding of automation relational databases.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with databases such as SQL or similar platforms.
  • General understanding of software/Windows OS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid understanding of in-line automated measurement tools and related signals.
  • Knowledge of steel process, properties and applications, steel defects, and defect origin.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, Statistics (design of experiments, data analysis and model formulation).
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) preferred.
