About the position

The Integration and Expansion Analyst at The University of Kansas Health System is responsible for the implementation and support of various applications within the healthcare environment. This role involves close collaboration with end users to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to applications, as well as assisting with the conversion and implementation of software products. The analyst will leverage their expertise in healthcare business operations to research and evaluate a variety of solutions, ensuring that end users receive high-quality and efficient products. Additionally, the position entails maintaining and supporting specified installed application software products, including managing licensing and contracts. In this role, the analyst will utilize appropriate architectural computer tools to develop streamlined pathways, data collection methods, document flow, and reports necessary to support integration projects. The responsibilities also include participating in the evaluation, planning, design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of IT integration and expansion projects. The analyst is expected to demonstrate accountability in delivering assigned tasks and will report project issues and accomplishments to the Assistant Director of Integration and Expansion. The position requires the analyst to analyze and document current and future needs and workflows by gathering data regarding regulatory requirements, operational procedures, and hospital/departmental policies. They will participate in the planning and development of clinical and/or business application systems, which may involve system design, documentation of design decisions, workflow redesign, data collection, database building, testing, and troubleshooting. The analyst must work under indirect supervision to design, document, build, and modify complex critical applications to meet the organization's needs effectively. Furthermore, the role involves maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current trends in healthcare business practices, informatics, and relevant standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates accountability in delivering assigned tasks.
  • Reports project issues and accomplishments to the Assistant Director of Integration and Expansion.
  • Analyzes and documents current and future needs and workflows through interviews and data gathering.
  • Participates in the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, support, and evaluation of clinical and/or business application systems.
  • Designs, documents, builds, and modifies complex critical applications to meet organizational needs.
  • Researches stakeholder requests for optimizations using various tools.
  • Works closely with partner IT teams and vendors to understand integration between clinical and business applications.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and issues in healthcare business practices and informatics.
  • Participates in team meetings and mentors new analysts.
  • Assists Applications Analysts in end-user and system support, including troubleshooting and resolution of reported problems.
  • Creates and maintains test scripts as workflows change based on software changes or application integration requirements.
  • Documents status and issues of testing and participates in troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Facilitates gathering IT contracts for compliance and review between IT teams, business partners, and vendors.
  • Communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers to analyze needs and functional requirements.
  • Collaborates with developers and SMEs to establish technical requirements and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
  • Serves as the internal project manager for short-term projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience in an IT-related field.
  • 1 or more years of experience in a Healthcare IT setting.
  • 1 or more years specializing in systems implementations, merger integration, business transformation, and change management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of methodologies and frameworks in Project Management and Software Development Lifecycle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field or 2:1 equivalent years' experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a healthcare IT operations setting.
  • Technical certifications related to ITIL, Windows Administration, or other IT or system-related fields.
