About the position

The Integration Data Center Technician will play a crucial role in assembling and integrating various components within a data center environment. This position involves working with servers, networking devices, storage solutions, cables, and other essential data center equipment. The technician will be responsible for following detailed runbooks and quality control checklists to ensure that all aspects of the build are completed accurately and efficiently. The role requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to follow both oral and written instructions meticulously. The technician will report directly to the Lead Integration Data Center Tech, collaborating closely with team members to deliver high-quality data center solutions to customers. In this position, the technician will utilize AX to check equipment in and validate it against the Bill of Material. They will install components into racks according to the rack elevation diagram and ensure that all cables and labels are installed as documented in the runbook. The technician will power on components, monitor for failures, and conduct power redundancy testing to ensure reliability. Additionally, they will configure servers, perform documented bench testing, and complete configuration updates as per customer requirements. Following quality control processes specific to the build type and customer is essential, as is the ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and troubleshooting guides. The technician will also be responsible for making support calls to vendors for failed components, completing IP updates on management interfaces, installing license keys, and performing BIOS and firmware updates. Capturing network interface MACs and merging data for internal systems will also be part of their responsibilities. Continuous learning and skill acquisition are encouraged to maintain technical competencies in this fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use AX to check equipment in and validate against Bill of Material
  • Install components into the rack following the rack elevation diagram
  • Install cables and labels as documented in the runbook
  • Power on components and check for failures by monitoring lights and display diagnostics
  • Complete power redundancy testing by failing over power strip A and then power strip B
  • Configure servers and complete documented bench testing
  • Complete configuration updates as documented per customer's requirement
  • Follow Quality Control processes and documentation specific to build type and customer
  • Follow detailed oral and written instructions in the installation/removal and repair of electronic equipment
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals, troubleshooting guides, manufacturers specifications, and equipment displays/monitors
  • Make support calls to vendor to open tickets for failed components
  • Complete IP updates on management interfaces
  • Install license keys
  • Complete BIOS and firmware updates
  • Capture network interface MACs and save the data
  • Capture and merge data and post to internal systems
  • Acquire additional skills to maintain technical competencies

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science related field, or Technical certifications such as A+ or Server+ or relevant work experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with rack and stack and structured cabling across multiple manufacturers
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with a team that focused on a common rack integration project or build
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and meet strict deadlines
  • Technical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to work with several teams and manage multiple rack integration projects that are running simultaneously
  • Ability to comprehend technical documentation, including VISIO diagrams, and be able to transfer that logical information into a physical build
