About the position

The Integration Engineer - Specialist 3 position with the City of New York involves a critical role in the integration and testing of various systems and subsystems, particularly focusing on the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) system. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating integration efforts between Public Safety IT subsystems and the NG9-1-1 system, ensuring that all components work together seamlessly. This role requires leading technical discussions during integration planning and managing the associated action items that arise from these discussions. In this position, the Integration Engineer will implement integration solutions for NG911 systems, ensuring interoperability and effective communication between different components. The engineer will also assist in coordinating with project leads and subcontractors to review all required interfaces with the NG9-1-1 system. A significant part of the role includes providing test cases for System Acceptance Testing (SAT) and System Integration Testing (SIT), identifying risks associated with integration activities, and assisting the Software Development Engineering (SDE) team, project leads, and subcontractors in setting up and testing the interfaces in the SDE. The engineer will verify all interfaces in the production environment and augment the test team to perform comprehensive end-to-end System Integration testing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the integration and testing of systems & subsystems.
• Manage and coordinate integration efforts between Public Safety IT subsystems and the NG9-1-1 system.
• Lead technical discussions in integration planning and manage associated action items.
• Implement integration solutions for NG911 systems, ensuring interoperability and seamless communication between components.
• Coordinate with project leads and subcontractors to review all required interfaces with the NG9-1-1 system.
• Provide test cases for SAT and SIT; identify risks associated with integration activities on the NG9-1-1 program.
• Assist the SDE team, project leads, and subcontractors in setting up and testing interfaces in the SDE.
• Verify all interfaces in the production environment and augment the test team for end-to-end System Integration testing.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with no less than 12 years in Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Engineering within Public Safety environment.
• Excellent technical architecture skills for creating future-proof public safety solutions.
• Familiarity with NENA i3 standards and NG911-specific technologies and standards, such as SIP, ECRIT, and ALI.
• Provide technical support for integration issues, diagnosing problems, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions.
• Work closely with software developers, network engineers, system administrators, and public safety officials to gather requirements and ensure integration solutions meet operational needs.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in a particular technical and/or business application, product, platform, methodology, or skill set.
• Knowledge of system integration techniques and ability to design systems that work seamlessly with existing infrastructure.
• Document integration configurations, processes, and procedures.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and user guides.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as presentation and facilitation skills; Subject Matter Expert of Enterprise Integration for multiple complex applications within Public Safety domain.
• In-depth knowledge and expertise in various technology stacks, platforms, and architectures; proficiency in system design principles, software architecture, and understanding of hardware components.
