About the position

The Integration, Field Service Engineer PM PNT position at Serco offers a unique opportunity to contribute to military defense operations at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. This role is pivotal in supporting the PM PNT's product support services, which encompass logistics engineering support, installation, repair, and field support for both hardware and software products. As a member of this team, you will collaborate closely with customers and fellow team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality support services that are critical to mission success. In this position, you will leverage your extensive technical expertise to resolve complex system failures and develop preventive maintenance programs. You will also play a key role in training junior technicians, identifying systemic failures, and conducting root cause analyses in partnership with engineering teams. Your responsibilities will include managing a deliberate program aimed at developing junior technicians, ensuring that support equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained across all field sites, and troubleshooting and repairing systems, including performing software updates. Additionally, you will be involved in the installation, modification, wiring, fabrication, and maintenance of systems, while distinguishing between hardware and software issues in multi-vendor environments. This role is not just about technical skills; it also requires strong leadership and communication abilities to effectively manage and mentor less experienced technicians. You will be expected to take on various duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the team and the mission.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a highly experienced technician capable of resolving complex system failures.
  • Develop preventive maintenance programs and train less experienced technicians.
  • Identify systemic failures and conduct root cause analysis in collaboration with engineering.
  • Manage a deliberate program for developing junior technicians.
  • Provide oversight to ensure support equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained by all field sites.
  • Troubleshoot and repair systems, performing software updates as necessary.
  • Install, modify, wire, fabricate, and maintain systems.
  • Distinguish between hardware and software problems in multi-vendor systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Electric Systems Engineering Technology or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience testing electronic equipment related to the job description.
  • 8+ years of experience testing and troubleshooting electronic subsystem installations in DoD military systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in a DoD environment.
  • Experience managing and training less experienced technicians.
  • Experience developing preventative maintenance programs.
  • Experience with test measurement and diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting hardware and software problems in multi-vendor systems.
  • Must have a current and active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
  • Must have reliable transportation to the customer site.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.

Nice-to-haves

  • 10+ years of military experience, preferably as a 948B Electronic Systems Maintenance Warrant Officer.
