About the position

The Integration Technician (Super Heavy Booster) at SpaceX plays a crucial role in the integration of various components and systems to the vehicle's primary structure. This position requires a blend of mechanical and avionics integration skills, as well as the ability to perform pneumatic and avionics checkout activities. The technician will be responsible for ensuring that all secondary structures, avionics, and stage propulsion components are properly integrated into the vehicle, which is essential for the successful operation of the Super Heavy Booster. In this role, the technician will engage in hands-on operations involving both large and small fragile assemblies, utilizing precision calibrated tools to ensure accuracy and safety. The responsibilities include staging, setting up, assembling, testing, and installing flight hardware, as well as performing fluids and pneumatic testing. The technician will also need to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions, ensuring that all tasks are completed according to established procedures and specifications. Collaboration with production engineers is key to developing and documenting integration processes, ensuring that all production services are performed on time and in a professional manner. The position demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, challenging environment. The technician must be willing to adapt to changing roles and responsibilities, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to safety and quality in all aspects of their work.

Responsibilities

  • Stage, set up, assemble, test and install flight hardware
  • Use precision calibrated tools
  • Perform hands-on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies
  • Conduct heavy rigging for large assemblies
  • Operate personnel platforms (boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.)
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Use various mechanical tools without prior instruction
  • Collaborate with production engineers to develop and document integration processes
  • Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely and in a professional manner
  • Perform fluids and pneumatic testing

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 2+ years of professional propulsion, mechanical, automotive, electrical or avionics hardware installation experience OR completion of a trades program

Nice-to-haves

  • FAA Airframe and PowerPlant license
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy transport equipment
  • Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion engines
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Proficient with computers and the ability to use MS Office
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
