About the position

This position is part of the Systems Integration and Test (SIT) Engineering team, focusing on the Ship-to-Shore Connector (SSC) Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) program. The role involves supporting the rollout of production crafts into testing, troubleshooting complex multi-discipline issues throughout testing and systems integration, and driving continuous improvement through feedback to design, quality, and manufacturing. The engineer will also support fielded crafts in collaboration with the Navy customer, ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of systems that are critical for saving lives and protecting warfighters. As a member of a highly skilled, multi-discipline engineering team, the Integration Test Engineer II will need to effectively interface and communicate with team members across various engineering disciplines. This includes collaboration with pilots, test conductors, technicians, and other engineering groups. The role offers opportunities for travel and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and technical documentation. The engineer will be responsible for reviewing engineering system designs, supporting the Navy customer to maximize uptime, and creating thorough technical documentation on all efforts. Additionally, the engineer will analyze and maintain interface control documents and other technical documents necessary for troubleshooting the craft, ensuring compliance with applicable military standards. The position requires independent assessment of complex issues that cross multiple craft systems, applying methodical processes to resolve these issues. The engineer will also develop innovative technical solutions to a wide range of difficult system-of-systems problems and serve as a technical resource within the organization. Liaison activities with subcontractors, external manufacturers, and internal and external customers at all levels are also part of the responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Review engineering system designs, models, drawings, design intents, and specifications for assessment of systems.
  • Support the Navy customer to maximize uptime and minimize recurrence of issues.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate thorough technical documentation on all efforts.
  • Analyze and maintain interface control documents and other technical documents required to troubleshoot the craft.
  • Familiarize and analyze applicable MIL-STD, MIL-DTL, MIL-HDBK, and similar standards documentation related to SSC design.
  • Attend meetings to deliver, schedule, and review technical status.
  • Independently assess complex issues crossing multiple craft systems.
  • Apply methodical processes and documentation to resolve issues.
  • Analyze electrical, mechanical drawings, and apply data to ongoing troubleshooting.
  • Analyze textual vendor and customer documentation and apply to ongoing troubleshooting.
  • Develop imaginative, thorough, practicable technical solutions to a wide range of difficult system-of-systems problems.
  • Serve as a technical resource to others within the work group, department, and the organization.
  • Conduct liaison activities with subcontractors and external manufacturers, as well as internal and external customers at all levels.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university.
  • Two plus (2) years of relevant or leverageable experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including preparation of design documentation.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio).
  • Secret eligibility required.
  • Ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully initiate and carry to completion assignments of major responsibility and of the most complex and technical nature.
  • Ability to adapt and learn new technical information in a targeted manner that may be outside of a single discipline to fully understand and troubleshoot multi-disciplinary systems.
  • Ability to work independently, learn new tasks/handle multiple tasks, solve problems, meet deadlines, and show strong self-motivation and initiative.
  • Ability to maintain a positive outlook and stay solution driven under high pressure.

  • General understanding of and ability to work with serial and network communication protocols
  • Experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies (fishbone, why-why, etc.)
  • Experience with Reliability analysis and improvement methods (MTBF, MTTR, etc.)
  • Experience with flight control systems, directly with Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC) experience is optimal.
  • Experience with military sites and systems.
