About the position

The Integration & Test Engineer for Starlink propulsion at SpaceX is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing production processes for key components of the electric propulsion system. This role requires a strong understanding of design, manufacturing, and testing, with a focus on ensuring that satellites achieve their mission. The engineer will work collaboratively across various departments to tackle new development projects and maintain high standards of quality and reliability in satellite hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Own the fabrication of parts, processes and assemblies within propulsion system manufacturing
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration
  • Regularly challenge each process, part, and operation while working closely with design/development engineers
  • Interact with a multi-disciplinary group of engineers and technicians on a daily basis
  • Maintain a sense of holistic ownership over the production line including process consistency, quality, tooling, capital equipment, ergonomics, layout, and safety
  • Enable day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow
  • Evaluate non-conformances to determine root cause and create actionable items and system improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of hands-on fabrication, assembly, testing, and/or project management experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with integration and testing of propulsion, thermal, electrical, and/or structural systems
  • Experience with the design, build, and operation of electrical and/or pressurized test equipment
  • Understanding of test methods/setups and data acquisition systems
  • Documentation and configuration management experience
  • Experience writing test plans, and procedures and providing go/no-go judgment and rationale
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Demonstrated engineering intuition, critical thinking, and comfort with ambiguity
