About the position

In Systems Integration and Test (SI&T), we integrate, verify, and validate our products. Our mission is to ensure that our systems work seamlessly, both in the lab and in the field. This involves developing comprehensive plans and procedures, debugging and evaluating system functions and interfaces, and creating robust test environments. We work closely with our customers to ensure that our products perform reliably and effectively from the outset. We are currently seeking a Senior Principal Systems Integration & Test Engineer to join our Engineering team in Springfield, Virginia, taking on the role of Site Technical Lead. This position is a blend of leadership and technical responsibilities, with approximately 20% of the role focused on site leadership activities and 80% on technical systems engineering and program execution. As a Site Technical Lead, you will be responsible for communicating and coordinating with customer representatives, providing daily status updates, facilitating visitor access requests, and conducting tours. You will also liaise directly with factory leads and the program management office to ensure smooth operations. On the technical side, you will support the daily execution of activities on a complex satellite ground system, assist with internal and external stakeholder maintenance activities, and oversee bi-weekly operational software deliveries. Additionally, you will perform on-site E2 triage and support during business hours, with after-hours on-call expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and support the on-site team of engineers
  • Provide regular updates to the on-site SETA team via a daily status page and in-person engagements
  • Support weekly SETA and team lead technical tag-ups
  • Support Change Management Board meetings as needed
  • Provide technical SME support as an on-site E2 Systems Integration & Test Engineer
  • Work in a classified lab on site
  • Work in an Agile program environment

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant systems integration and test experience or 7 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree in (STEM)
  • Experience working on-site in a badgeless environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving software system execution problems
  • Experience with systems engineering principles and activities
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a Satellite Ground System development or operations environment
  • Experience with ground station and satellite domains (such as terrestrial data networking, command and telemetry, launch operations, flight dynamics, mission planning, on-orbit operations)
  • Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Test Automation experience (Cucumber, Gherkin, home-grown)
  • Experience with Java, C++, or Python
  • Experience with Linux operating system
