About the position

The Integrations Network Architect is a key role within the King County Department of Information Technology (KCIT), responsible for leading the design and strategic direction of network architecture. This position focuses on integrating new technologies into production, defining roadmaps for deployments, and ensuring solutions align with approved architecture. The architect collaborates with various teams to deliver effective IT architecture and design solutions that meet business requirements and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze available assets to detect deficiencies and bridge gaps between current and future architecture.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects to develop complex end-to-end Enterprise solutions on cloud platforms.
  • Work with vendors and lead engineers to define best practices and evolve capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with information security policies and regulations.
  • Design and engineer capabilities with application engineers in mind for easy adoption.
  • Participate in all phases of project initiatives, including requirements gathering, development, design, testing, and production planning.
  • Create functional diagrams, interface diagrams, and technical design specifications based on business and project requirements.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of network infrastructure and improve system efficiency.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional Information Technology experience.
  • 7+ years of hands-on architecture with broad IT discipline integration experience.
  • Solid understanding of network technologies, application architecture, and infrastructure security.
  • High integrity, accountability, and a positive attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with network onboarding and provisioning in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with NIST - 171 security framework and cloud security tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud networking services across major cloud providers.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with SD-WAN, SDN, and network automation tools.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerization technologies.
  • Experience in designing network solutions in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Project management skills and experience leading IT projects.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, CISSP).
