About the position

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support Acoustic Intelligence Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (PED) system development at the US Navy's Office of Naval Intelligence. This position is located on-site at the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, MD. In this role, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for developing and maintaining the next generation of the US Navy's ACINT PED capability. Your contributions will be critical in ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of the database systems that support this mission-critical work. As a Database Administrator, your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and monitoring Oracle and other databases, developing SQL queries for reporting purposes, loading database products and patches, tuning systems to optimize performance, and setting up and managing backup/recovery methods. This role requires a strong understanding of database management and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure the successful implementation and operation of the database systems. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in database administration, particularly with Oracle databases, and will be familiar with various database technologies. You will also need to demonstrate proficiency in working with different operating systems, including Unix, Linux, and MS Windows. Additionally, experience in IP networking, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing will be considered a strong advantage. This position requires a TS/SCI clearance and IAT II certification, reflecting the sensitive nature of the work involved.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with a BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • TS/SCI clearance
  • IAT II certification
  • Experience as an Oracle database administrator
  • Familiarity with other database technologies
  • Ability to work with Unix/Linux/MS Windows platforms
  • Experience in IP networking, VPNs, DNS, and load balancing is a strong plus
