About the position

The Intellectual Property Analyst (IP OFCR 2) position at the University of California, Davis involves providing analytical support for the identification, protection, and commercialization of innovations. Under the supervision of senior team members, the analyst will manage a complex portfolio of intellectual property assets, draft and review IP agreements, and evaluate the technological and commercial value of new invention disclosures. This role is integral to the Innovation Access team, which collaborates with researchers and external partners to facilitate technology transfer and innovation commercialization.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support for identifying, fostering, protecting, and commercializing innovations.
  • Manage a complex portfolio of intellectual property assets and licensing agreements.
  • Draft and review IP agreements to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Assist in evaluating the technological and commercial value of new invention disclosures.
  • Engage with researchers and external partners to facilitate communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience analyzing, drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and interpreting high-level analytical assignments.
  • Knowledge of IP laws and terminology, including patent and contract law.
  • Experience managing and processing contracts with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficiency in software such as Project and Document Management platforms, MS Office Suite, and Internet access software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively advise and counsel clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with copyright law and related terminology.
  • Knowledge of UC policies regarding research and intellectual property.
