About the position

The Intellectual Property (Patent) Paralegal will be responsible for managing client portfolios, which includes overseeing all filings and correspondence for both US, PCT, and foreign prosecution of assigned clients. This role entails creating, revising, and filing all prosecution documents in US and PCT applications, as well as corresponding with foreign associates regarding all aspects of foreign prosecution. Timely reporting of official correspondence concerning these matters is also a critical component of the position. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, strong organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Adaptability, proactivity, and a high level of analytical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft products and a comfort level with technology are necessary, as the position requires the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Strong customer service orientation and effective oral and written communication skills are integral, as the paralegal will interact with all tiers of personnel and clients. Responsibilities

  • Support various intellectual property attorneys to provide excellent service to our clients
  • Prepare and file, or instruct, on all aspects of US, PCT, and foreign prosecution
  • Draft formality documents, attend to document legalization (where necessary), comply with priority document requirements
  • Review and maintain a docket of associated deadlines of assigned clients
  • Timely report official communications to the client and foreign associates
  • Consistently achieve 1500 billable hour requirement (including approved non-billable time)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in international, PCT, and US prosecution required
  • Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent); college degree and/or a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of patent procedural requirements of USPTO practices required
