About the position

You will assist in overall natural resource conservation program management, development, and execution of deliverables (e.g., documents and electronic tools) in support of Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization Program (SIOP). You will oversee the administration, implementation, and tracking of conservation measures, mitigations, and best management practices commitments. You will coordinate the work of environmental subject matter experts as it relates to natural resource regulations (e.g., Endangered Species Act, Marine Mammal Protection Act) and the National Environmental Policy Act. You will represent as an environmental technical expert at regulatory meetings. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting briefs to officials on the approach, issues and risk management strategies of SIOP. You will serve as a Technical Representative for environmental contracts supporting SIOP. You will develop and provide technical expertise on natural resource management plans and memorandum(s) of agreement with regulators in support of SIOP.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is required for 0819 positions at the GS 13 level and above.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
  • Must complete training and obtain a government credit card for travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico.
  • Experience providing technical support and guidance regarding natural resources conservation.
  • Experience assessing project impacts on natural resources.
  • Experience consulting with regulatory agencies.
