About the position

The Engineer position within the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) team focuses on Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (UUV) systems and Research & Development projects. The role involves troubleshooting, designing, and testing UUV systems, ensuring compliance with technical requirements, and proposing solutions for operational and maintenance challenges. The position supports multiple UUV Programs of Record and aims to enhance the capabilities of UUV systems through innovative engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Utilize engineering judgement to plan, schedule, and conduct investigations of UUV electro/mechanical and software systems.
• Propose operational and maintenance solutions for UUV systems.
• Review technical requirements of UUV systems for maintenance and test procedures.
• Perform studies of new UUV components for technical feasibility and document proposed changes.
• Design devices, equipment, or systems for R&D projects to enhance UUV capabilities.
• Write test procedures for components and systems to ensure compliance with design requirements.
• Conduct tests in laboratory settings and on range for validation of new component integration.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have a professional engineering degree or equivalent experience.
• At least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
• Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, computer, or software components and systems.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and engineering drawings.
• Experience writing and following maintenance processes and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

• Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
• Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
