About the position

The Interdisciplinary Engineer position at the Department of Defense (DCMA) involves providing expert engineering support and implementing agency policies related to defense acquisition systems. The role requires analyzing engineering applications, administering contracts, and assessing contractor performance while conducting advanced engineering functions. This position is critical for ensuring compliance with engineering standards and providing technical recommendations based on surveillance of contractor engineering management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement agency policy and provide expert engineering support.
  • Analyze engineering surveillance applications and developments.
  • Administer contracts in accordance with agency policies and standards.
  • Assess and record contractor performance using DCMA engineering surveillance performance indicators.
  • Prepare and evaluate documents regarding specific engineering and manufacturing issues.
  • Provide expert feedback to the Chief Engineer based on engineering processes and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor complex contractor engineering management systems and provide technical recommendations.
  • Conduct Contract Receipt and Review related to cost, schedule, and performance.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in professional engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Experience applying software engineering/analysis principles in defense acquisition systems.
  • Experience overseeing the Software Development Life Cycle for major Acquisition programs.
  • Technical support experience for embedded software, missile systems, and sensor technologies.
  • Experience reviewing contracts for compliance and providing technical advice on contract changes.
  • Leadership experience in conducting engineering surveillance and implementing agency policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.
