About the position

The Interdisciplinary position within the Department of Defense is designed for candidates with backgrounds in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Data Science. This role is developmental, allowing for selection at various GS levels (GS-07, GS-09, or GS-11), and focuses on supporting project management and execution of district projects and programs. The position offers opportunities for growth and advancement within the federal service, with a salary range of $49,025 to $105,289 depending on geographic location and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in support of project management, control, coordination, and execution of all district assigned projects and programs.
  • Act as a team member of the district project controls group, providing services such as planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, change management, and risk assessment.
  • Manage day-to-day processing of each project and/or program using professional project portfolio management software and established Project Management Business Processes (PMBP).
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute assigned programs and their documentation requirements to ensure effective data/document management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations research, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field with specific coursework in calculus and advanced mathematics/statistics.
  • Specialized experience in project management support, including knowledge of scheduling software and accounting, or relevant graduate education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team leads and coworkers regarding project schedules and processes.

Nice-to-haves
