About the position

The Interdisciplinary position within the Department of Defense is designed for candidates with backgrounds in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Data Science. This role is developmental, allowing for selection at various grades (GS-07, GS-09, or target grade GS-11) based on qualifications. The position involves supporting project management and execution of district projects, utilizing project portfolio management software, and ensuring effective data/document management.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties in support of project management, control, coordination, and execution of all district assigned projects and programs.
  • Act as a team member of the district project controls group, providing services such as planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, change management, and risk assessment.
  • Manage day-to-day processing of each project and/or program using professional project portfolio management software and established Project Management Business Processes (PMBP).
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute assigned programs and their documentation requirements to ensure effective data/document management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations research, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of scheduling software and accounting to support project management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team leads and coworkers regarding project schedules.

  • Experience with project portfolio management software.
  • Graduate level education in a relevant field.
