The Interdisciplinary Operations Research Analyst/Mathematician/Statistician/Computer Scientist/Data Scientist position within the Department of Defense is a developmental role aimed at supporting project management and execution across various district projects. The position is available at multiple grades (GS-07, GS-09, GS-11) and involves working with project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and risk assessment to ensure effective project delivery. Candidates will be part of a team that utilizes professional project portfolio management software and established processes to manage and document projects effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in support of project management, control, coordination, and execution of all district assigned projects and programs.
• Act as a team member of the district project controls group, providing services such as planning, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, change management, and risk assessment.
• Manage day-to-day processing of each project and/or program using project portfolio management software.
• Control, develop, coordinate, and execute assigned programs and their documentation requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in operations research, mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or a related field with specific coursework in calculus and statistics.
• Specialized experience in project management support, including knowledge of scheduling software and accounting.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members regarding project schedules and processes.

Nice-to-haves

• Graduate level education in a relevant field such as Operations Research or Data Science.
• Experience with project portfolio management software.
• Familiarity with budgeting and risk assessment processes.
