The Kankakee School District 111 is seeking an Interim Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources to oversee all human resources services for the district, which includes administrators, teachers, secretaries, and instructional and non-instructional aides. This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and is responsible for the development and implementation of human resources policies and programs. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Education to implement affirmative action plans, particularly in recruitment and hiring, and will collaborate with college and university administrators to place student teachers and interns within the district. Additionally, the Assistant Superintendent will negotiate contracts for professional and para-professional staff in conjunction with the School Board Attorney. The role involves planning and managing human resources needs, including the computerization of HR records, staff appraisal and evaluation, and the development of a staff development program for new teachers. The Assistant Superintendent will also be responsible for recruiting qualified candidates, with a focus on minority recruitment, and will coordinate the transfer, assignment, promotion, and dismissal of staff. This position requires the preparation of administrative records and reports, processing of leave requests, and the development of job descriptions for all staff positions. The Assistant Superintendent will also assist in resolving grievances and disputes, develop salary schedules, and oversee various programs including the Health Clinic and special education services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in human resources management within an educational setting, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. This is a temporary position with an hourly rate of $87.50, available immediately.
