About the position

Alvarez & Marsal, a leading independent global professional services firm, is seeking an Interim CFO to join its Private Equity Performance Improvement (PEPI) - CFO Services team. This role is crucial for supporting our Private Equity clientele across the United States. The firm specializes in turnaround management, performance improvement, and corporate advisory services, and has a strong operational heritage that emphasizes problem-solving and value creation. The Interim CFO will be responsible for leading clients through challenging times, particularly in the Manufacturing, Industrial, and Consumer Packaged Goods sectors. This position requires a hands-on approach to tackle complex business issues and maximize value for our clients. The PEPI practice focuses on serving middle market and large cap private equity firms, helping them improve operating results at their portfolio companies. The Interim CFO will play a pivotal role in this process, leveraging their established track record as a CFO for private equity-owned businesses with revenues ranging from $100 million to $1 billion. The ideal candidate will possess a CPA and/or MBA, along with significant experience in financial executive roles within the specified industries. Prior top-tier consulting experience is highly preferred, as the role involves leading organizations through time-sensitive projects such as restructuring, carve-outs, or acquisitions. In addition to managing financial operations, the Interim CFO will be tasked with improving the performance of finance organizations by upgrading staff skills, redesigning processes, and implementing new systems. Experience with financial software such as NetSuite and MS Dynamics is a plus. The role also requires proven capabilities in building budgets, EBITDA forecasts, and cash forecasts to support executive management decision-making. Strong analytical skills, client relationship building, and the ability to deliver projects under pressure are essential for success in this position.
