About the position

The Interim CFO position at Alvarez & Marsal focuses on providing financial leadership and performance improvement services to private equity clients across the U.S. The role involves taking on interim management responsibilities, particularly in CFO, Controller, and Treasurer capacities, to help organizations navigate complex business challenges and enhance operational results. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience in financial management within the Manufacturing, Industrial, or Consumer Packaged Goods sectors to drive value creation and support executive decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Support private equity clientele on a national basis as an interim CFO.
  • Lead organizations through time-sensitive projects such as restructuring, carve-outs, or acquisitions.
  • Improve the performance of finance organizations by upgrading staff skills, redesigning processes, or implementing new systems.
  • Build budgets, EBITDA forecasts, and cash forecasts to guide executive management decision-making.
  • Develop management reporting dashboards and provide insights on operational performance drivers.
  • Manage international treasury and currency hedging as needed.

Requirements

  • Established track record as a CFO for private equity-owned businesses with revenues between $100 million and $1 billion.
  • Deep experience in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Consumer Packaged Goods industries.
  • Prior experience working with private equity-backed companies.
  • Experience in leading organizations through time-sensitive projects and managing processes to completion.
  • Proven ability to improve finance organization performance through staff development and process redesign.
  • Strong written, oral, and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Structured project management skills, including time, team, and work-stream management.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to deliver projects on time and with quality.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior top-tier consulting experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with management reporting dashboards is a plus.
  • International treasury and currency hedging experience is a plus.
  • Existing private equity relationships, either personal or professional.
