About the position

The CIO/Head of IT is responsible for aligning the IT organization with the bank's objectives and strategies, managing IT systems to enhance productivity, and ensuring the bank remains at the forefront of technological advancements and cybersecurity needs. This role involves collaboration with executive management on budgeting and strategic planning, as well as overseeing IT operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate IT across the organization.
  • Define and adjust IT standards and technologies.
  • Deliver opportunities for securing advantage.
  • Provide regular reporting on alignment to risk, security, compliance, regulatory, and IT controls.
  • Establish and maintain service provider relationships.
  • Ensure service providers provide transparent and regular reporting on alignment to enterprise, regulatory, and compliance controls.
  • Define metrics and targets based on overall business objectives.
  • Define processes to ensure delivery towards metrics targets.
  • Develop and test business continuity capabilities.
  • Partner with business units to optimize and design enterprise processes.
  • Bring any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Optimize cost of services through a mix of internal and external sources.
  • Provide operational status reporting, action and mitigation plans.
  • Develop, grow and align IT staff in alignment with changing business needs.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.
  • Complete all related training pertaining to cybersecurity, including phishing emails, securing your access credentials, and preventing unauthorized access.
  • Immediately report any suspicious IT activities to IT Security and/or Audit Committee.
  • Understand and adhere to regulatory guidelines including but not limited to FCRA, BSA, GLBA, etc. as the regulations pertain to the employee's job function.
  • Select, hire and train new personnel within the department.
  • Counsel, mentor and prepare employee performance reviews.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years' experience leading IT teams in a bank or other financial institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in IT within multiple disciplines (development, architecture, infrastructure and vendor relationships).
  • Experience working with internal and external regulatory, compliance, and audit functions.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong general banking experience to include client service issues and overall bank operations.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction from supervisor.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, including ability to deal professionally with challenges and questions.
  • Capability of working well independently and as part of a team and exercising appropriate level of authority commensurate with experience and responsibility.
  • Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven environment.
