The Interim Controller position is a critical role within a well-established firm that operates in three primary sectors: Real Estate Investment Trusts, Investments in Property, and Advisory Management Services. In this role, the Interim Controller will manage internal controls and audit processes, ensuring that interim and year-end testing procedures are effectively executed. This includes reviewing and updating internal control narratives on a semi-annual basis to reflect current operational procedures. The position also involves overseeing all closing activities related to acquisitions, which includes securing federal tax ID numbers for new entities, establishing new bank accounts, and verifying settlement statements prior to closing. Collaboration with the legal department to confirm ownership structures and compliance with mortgage agreements is also a key responsibility. Financial reporting is another significant aspect of this role, where the Interim Controller will oversee all month-end and quarter-end reporting deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP/IFRS and other regulatory requirements. The preparation of quarterly subsidiary reporting packages will also fall under this responsibility. Additionally, the Interim Controller will be tasked with budgeting and analysis, which includes preparing and reviewing operating budgets and re-forecasts for all subsidiaries, as well as conducting quarterly analyses of corporate books to explain variances. The role also encompasses payroll and benefits management, where the Interim Controller will approve bi-weekly payroll reports, process payroll, and participate in the annual review of the Employee Benefit program. Treasury management responsibilities include reviewing cash requirements, monitoring daily bank balances, and creating relationships with banks and lenders to facilitate capital calls for investment purposes.
