About the position

The Interim High School Assistant Principal at TECCA is responsible for supporting high school leadership and ensuring that all students achieve high academic levels. This role involves collaboration with faculty, staff, and learning specialists to enhance student engagement and academic success in a virtual environment. The position requires active participation in school events and leadership meetings, as well as supervision and evaluation of high school faculty.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates high expectations and an unwavering belief that all students can and will achieve at high levels.
  • Supports meaningful and productive high school leadership meetings.
  • Is an active and engaging member of the Learning Leadership Team.
  • Plans, attends, and participates in school events.
  • Works collaboratively with other high school faculty and staff to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the curriculum.
  • Consults with other faculty, staff, and learning specialists to develop alternate enrichment activities and modifications to students' programs.
  • Plans and facilitates monthly school assemblies for the high school.
  • Supervises and evaluates High School faculty and staff as assigned by the High School Principal.
  • Assists in preparing and implementing the school budget.
  • Assists in developing the school LiveLesson schedule.
  • Assists in recruitment, screening, hiring, training, and assigning of department personnel according to district procedures.
  • Organizes and supports enrollment procedures in advance of the start of school and during the school year.
  • Develops and updates IA Guide for school staff.
  • Responds to instances of student misconduct, including communication with staff and caretakers.
  • Supports planning of field trips and other student activities and events.
  • Coordinates student assemblies.
  • Organizes and supports substitute teachers.
  • Assists teachers in developing and maintaining effective and engaging teaching methods in a virtual environment.
  • Develops innovative engagement strategies, preventative approaches, and proactive plans for students who exhibit at-risk behaviors.
  • Provides direct supervision of school-based events and programs.
  • Responds to all Caretaker, Learning Coach, and student inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Helps plan and implement school-based professional development as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a senior-level educational role.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in virtual education environments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budget preparation and implementation.
  • Familiarity with recruitment and training processes in education.
  • Knowledge of student engagement strategies.
