About the position

Accents of the South is seeking a talented Draftsman to join our dynamic interiors firm, which specializes in high-end residential and commercial projects. This role is pivotal in establishing our reputation as the leading interior design firm in Huntsville. The ideal candidate will possess a robust technical background, combining expertise in interior architecture, interior design, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E). The Draftsman will be responsible for managing various projects from concept through to completion, ensuring that each design meets our high standards of quality and creativity. The successful candidate will have a strong portfolio that showcases their design sensibility and technical skills. They should be comfortable working independently, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering outstanding results. The role requires proficiency in industry-standard software, including AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp, as well as a solid understanding of product sourcing and vendor relationships for FF&E. In this part-time position, you will be expected to work approximately 30 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that allows for a balance between professional and personal commitments. The Draftsman will collaborate closely with other team members, contributing to a positive and productive work environment while also being self-motivated and organized. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effectively conveying design concepts and collaborating with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a variety of high-end residential and commercial projects from concept to completion.
  • Create detailed drawings and plans using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop innovative design solutions.
  • Source products and maintain relationships with vendors for FF&E.
  • Ensure all designs meet the firm's quality standards and client expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding project progress and design concepts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Architecture.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in interior design or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp or similar 3D modeling software.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating design sensibility and technical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through on projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in all work stages of a project from concept to completion.
  • Knowledge of product sourcing and vendor relationships for FF&E.
  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in an organized manner.
